  1. Jewellery repairs

Bring the piece into the shop and we will give you a free estimate. Every piece is photographed and written up when it comes in.

Cleaning is done in the shop and takes about an hour. Other work goes to the workshop we have worked with for many years, and usually takes one to two weeks. We ring you when it is ready.

Batteries and straps are done in the shop, and can take as little as 20 minutes, depending on how busy we are.

Repairs and overhauls go to our trusted partners and usually take about two weeks. Once the watch is at the workshop, we ring you with an estimate. If you go ahead, you pay on collection. If you decide not to, we collect the watch and there is no fee.

  3. Valuations

Valuations are done face to face in the shop.

Insurance valuations are carried out by Paul himself, and you receive a full printed breakdown of each item. The fee is £45 or 2 per cent of the total value, whichever is greater. For higher-value items, the fee is on request.

Probate valuations are made to HMRC's requirements, with a printed breakdown, and cost 4 per cent of the total value. A family division valuation gives you a written breakdown, with a fee based on the value of the jewellery.

Verbal valuations over the counter are free, unless there are several boxes of items. There is no charge to value pieces you would like to offer to the shop.

We needed some jewellery valuing for insurance and Paul very kindly did it on the same day for us; (some other local jewellers had quoted weeks) and cleaned everything up so it looked brand new!

  5. Sell your jewellery
A jeweller's loupe beside a gold chain, a signet ring, a pair of hoop earrings and a wristwatch on green suede.

Whether we buy a piece is at Paul's discretion. Gold and silver are bought by weight, unless the piece is something special.

There is no need for an appointment, but it is worth ringing first if you are coming a long way. We pay on the day, and you will need to bring ID.

We buy jewellery, gold, silver and watches.

I popped in the other day with a broken watch and the team very kindly repaired it while I waited.

They have done the most fantastic job fixing my grandmothers necklace when other places have said it wasn't possible.

Tell us about the piece and what you would like done. A photograph or two helps. The shop will reply by email or phone within two working days. Nothing is booked or charged until you have spoken to them.

Valuations are done face to face in the shop, so there is no need to send photographs. Ask a question here first, or simply bring the piece in.

Photographs and any papers or boxes help. The shop will tell you whether to bring it in.

What it is, what needs doing, and anything you know about it, such as age or where it came from.
