Barnes Jewellery, since 1991

Vintage, antique and pre-loved jewellery, on Barnes High Street.

Barnes Jewellery is at 53 Barnes High Street, in the middle of the village. The shop sells vintage, antique and pre-loved jewellery, and takes in repairs, valuations and engraving.

Paul Orford joined Barnes Jewellery in 1991. He bought the business from its original owners in 2006 and, in 2009, moved it across the road to larger premises.

Paul studied jewellery design in Birmingham, then worked for the world-renowned Andrew Grima in Jermyn Street, and later for SJ Phillips, before coming to Barnes. He has a keen knowledge of the history of jewellery and is a member of the National Association of Jewellers.

The pieces come from customers, dealers, auctions and international jewellery fairs. What makes Paul buy one is simple: "Usually it's something that catches my eye: a story behind the piece, an unusual stone or design."

Customers come from far and wide, often on a friend's recommendation, looking for a proper jeweller. They come for birthday, anniversary and celebration gifts, and for christenings. Repairs are a big part of the shop too.

Paul is the owner and managing director. Sam and Tara are both longstanding members of the team.

Barnes is a village in the borough of Richmond upon Thames, close to Hammersmith and Putney.

We pride ourselves on making everyone feel welcome, and on giving the best service, however large or small the sale or the job.

Paul and his team are just the best. So knowledgeable, charming and a solid part of the Barnes community.

The owner is also very technically knowledgeable about watches. A local jewel(!).
