Vintage 18ct white gold 16mm South Sea cultured pearl and diamond earrings

A vintage pair of earrings in 18ct white gold. Each 16mm South Sea cultured pearl hangs beneath three leaf shapes paved with diamonds, so the sparkle sits above and the soft lustre of the pearl below.

South Sea cultured pearls are grown in the Pinctada maxima oyster, which produces the largest cultured pearls, and are known for their size and thick nacre. Most measure between 10 and 15mm, which puts a pair at 16mm among the larger ones you will see.
